Philippine Cultural High School celebrates its 85th foundation day anniversary this coming school year 2008-2009. To meet up with the challenges of the new era, the school has applied to offer tertiary education with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). After more than a year of preparation, its application has finally been approved, and is now renamed Philippine Cultural College. Having reached the age of retirement, Mr. Emilio Gan, the school principal, has formally announced his retirement from the institution. Mr. Gan has served the school for 38 years, and has given his share in uplifting the quality of education offered by the said institution. His contribution, especially in the area of curriculum reform in the Chinese language instruction, has been recognized by the community. In 2003, he was given the “Chinese Language and Culture Friendship Award” by the Ministry of Education of China.

On May 5, the Board of Trustees officially appointed Dr. Lily Go, a batch 70 alumna, to be the president of Philippine Cultural College. At the same time, it promoted Ms. Sining Marcos Kotah, the administrative head of the main campus, to be the vice president in charge of the preschool, elementary, and high school departments. The meeting was presided by the chairwoman of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Bee Keng Elena Cu Uy Gam. She acknowledged the great contributions and selfless services rendered by Mr. Emilio Gan to the institution for 38 years. Present during the announcement were honorary chairmen Mr. John K. Tan and Mr. Eduardo Chua, vice chairwoman Ms. Pilar Ongking, vice chairman Mr. Siy Yap, secretary General Dr. Fernando Gan, vice secretary general Mr. Nelson Lee, and board members Ms. Diana To, Mr. Angel Tan, Ms. Janet Kopio, Dr. Tan King King, and all the administrators from both the main and the annex campuses. All those present gave Mr. Gan a standing ovation and a warm round of applause to show their respect to him.
